I have so many words, yet feel utterly speechless simultaneously. This country’s foundation has been built on racism, yet why was yesterday’s event still so jarring and horrifying?
It was not a protest. They are not patriots; they are ｔｅｒｒｏｒｉｓｔｓ. What we witnessed were grown men and women, correction, 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 having a collective, violent hissy fit. A temper tantrum. 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒. A stomping of feet because their cult leader was not reelected. And he incited and condoned it.
We’ve seen the footage and the photos. The doors were practically held open for them, welcoming and ushering them inside. 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝘽𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙠𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙜𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙, 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙩, 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙣, 𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙. Where was that level of brutality? No, the police instead ran and somehow knew how to not use deadly force. Took selfies with the terrorists, as they pilfered, damaged, and stole.
What we learned Wednesday is that if you’re white in America, you can get away with anything.
